Receiver

An efficient virtual workspace app. The app is the most extensive technology the Citrix family of services has to offer. Citrix Workspace App is a universal software client that allows you to instantly access anytime, anywhere all your workspace services without the trouble of individually sign-on, confusing passwords, and complicated interfaces. Works well for intended purpose. My intent for use of receiver was to bring the convenience of my work server by means of Internet Explorer to my Apple Products. It works, although it would be nice if Safari would be compatible. Until then, this product will meet your need. Citrix Receiver is not a standalone program, and it comes included in XenApp and XenDesktop subscriptions. On the other hand, Citrix Workspace app is an independent product and can be installed separately. Some users continue to use Citrix Receiver as it supports any desktop platforms such as Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Citrix Workspace App (formerly Citrix Receiver) is the client component of XenDesktop and XenApp, developed by Citrix Systems. It was released initially in 2009.

Product overview[edit]

Citrix Receiver is the client component of XenDesktop or XenApp.[1] Devices with Receiver installed are able to access full desktops via XenDesktop or individual applications via XenApp from a centralized host, such as a server or cloud infrastructure.[2] The product's intended users are employees.[3]

Citrix Receiver is not a standalone product and is included with XenApp and XenDesktop.[4]

My cleaner for mac. Reviews praised Citrix Receiver's reasonably fast loading time[5] and flexibility in allowing remote desktop access from many different computer and mobile platforms.[6] However, reviewers also criticized the iPhone version of the software for the difficulty of formatting text and prolonged typing, tasks that normally required a keyboard and mouse.[6] The iPad version had similar accessibility issues, and the performance of Flash applications was very limited.[5] As a remedy, Citrix developed a mouse for iOS devices.[7]

Update from the Citrix website:[8]

As of August 2018, Citrix Workspace app has replaced Citrix Receiver.Citrix Workspace app is a new client from Citrix that works similar to Citrix Receiver and is fully backward-compatible with your organization’s Citrix infrastructure. Citrix Workspace app provides the full capabilities of Citrix Receiver, as well as new capabilities based on your organization’s Citrix deployment.

History[edit]

Prior to Receiver, Citrix had a different client for each of its products. The company developed Receiver to handle the management of those clients.[9] Citrix Receiver was announced in 2009 and the first version became available later that year.[10] Citrix Receiver won several mobility awards after its release, including a CRN Appy and 'Best of Interop' award for Wireless & Mobility in 2011,[11] and a Global Mobile Award in 2012.[12] As of August 2018, Citrix Workspace app has replaced Citrix Receiver[13]

This issue has been resolved. The fix was first introduced with a special release of Receiver 3.4 CU2. This update had also been included with the 4.x version release of Receiver for Windows on June 26, 2013.

There is also a fix for this issue in HDX RealTime Optimization Pack 1.4.200. This update has also been included with 1.5 and all later versions of HDX RealTime Optimization Pack.

Solution 1

Note: If you are still experiencing this error, you may have a corrupt Receiver installation. Try the following steps, if a fresh installation is required:

  1. Download and Run - CTX137494 - Receiver Clean-Up Utility
  2. Verify in Control Panel > Programs and Features or Add/Remove Programs to confirm that the Citrix Receiver software is no longer present.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. Download and install the latest Citrix Receiver.

Note: If the issue persists, restart your computer and try again.

Solution 2

If solution 1 did not resolve the issue and you are using Receiver 4.2 or newer, then try increasing the timeout by adding the following key:
Caution! Refer to the Disclaimer at the end of this article before using Registry Editor.

Type: REG_DWORD

On 64-bit Windows:
Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432nodeCitrixICA Client
Name: VdLoadUnLoadTimeOut
Type: REG_DWORD
Data: Any value in seconds (Decimal)

Note: Registry key values are typically listed in decimal format, unless specified otherwise.
Same VdLoadUnloadTimeout registry setting is used in two places with two different default values:

  • By WfcRun32.exe, when it has seen an error from the engine, and needs to kill the WfIca32.exe process. It waits for this registry setting with a default of 1 second before terminating the process.
  • By WfIca32.exe, when it is loading virtual drivers. It waits for this registry setting with a default of 5 seconds for the Virtual driver to load.

If you set the registry setting, then both processes will use the value that you set (in seconds). There is no upper limit.
Lower limits are forced. If the value is less than 1 for WfcRun32.exe, it will be forced to 1. If the value is less than 5 for WfIca32.exe, it will be forced to 5.
Solution 3
